Janelle Kirk

Janelle Kirk

Senior Financial Adviser

NFPG’s Senior Financial Adviser Janelle Kirk is clearly passionate about supporting people to realise their financial goals.

With more than 44 years in the finance industry, including over two decades in the banking sector – 11 spent with the CBA; and almost 20 years as a financial planner, Janelle has developed strong quality relationships based on trust.

While working within the banking industry Janelle identified the need for financial planning services, especially for the ageing population.

“As I moved with them through life I recognised there were a lot of pitfalls for those who couldn’t see what could be done to make the most of their retirement – what I usually call – ‘to retire smiling’.”

Wanting to embrace a holistic approach to supporting people with their financial future Janelle pursued further study to qualify as a Certified Financial Planner, and holds a Masters in Financial Planning and Graduate Certificate of Business Research.

As part of the NFPG team, Janelle provides advice in a range of areas including pre-retirement and retirement planning; and specialist advice in aged care.

“My approach may be different depending on where a person is in their life journey. It really is about listening to them to learn what is important to them and what they want to achieve.

When Janelle is asked ‘when’ should someone engage with a financial planner, her advice is – “the earlier you start the better”.

Mathew Simpson

Matthew Simpson-Foster

Senior Financial Adviser

A long-standing passion to help others realise their financial goals drives Matthew’s mission at NFPG. “Seeing clients start to achieve their financial independence inspires me,” he says. “It starts with listening, working to their agenda, not our own.”

Matthew’s easy-going personality is backed by significant experience, starting with corporate superannuation back in 2000. From there, Matt spent five years as pricing manager at one of Europe’s biggest hedge funds, and six years in super and insurance for some of Australia’s largest financial services providers.

The experience made Matthew aware of just how vulnerable a lot of people were when it came to their financial security. “I saw a lot of insurance claims where people hadn’t been given the right advice, and had cancelled their insurance,” he recalls. “It made me want to do more to help people build and protect their wealth.”

At the urging of long-time friend Daniel Brown, Matthew decided the time was right to leverage his broad experience and move into the financial planning space. NFPG was a natural fit. “We look at advice very differently to other outfits, and I think that’s one of our advantages,” says Matthew.

So regardless whether you’re a young couple looking to review your current arrangements for wealth creation, or someone seeking a pre-retirement boost to your super or savings, Matthew and the NFPG team have the know-how to help.

Simon

Simon Hoskin

Senior Financial Adviser

A desire to take away the financial worries around life’s later stages and help people build their personal wealth compels Simon Hoskin, CCFPG’s retirement specialist. From super and pension-related matters to aged care concerns or estate planning, Simon strives to make things easy to understand for his clients, framing everything in the simplest language possible.

“Everyone has different goals,” he observes. “Whether its saving for small trips away or putting away a few thousand dollars for when it’s needed, I love seeing clients achieve the outcomes they’re seeking.”

“Building wealth requires a clear plan,” he says. For Simon, that all starts with identifying what’s most important for each individual and establishing a fuller picture of their financial health. From there, he encourages the client to clarify and prioritise their financial goals, in order to begin the work of researching the strategies that will best enable those outcomes.

Drawing on over twenty years’ experience in business and finance with firms such as NRMA, Westpac and NAB, Simon then helps his clients determine the most effective pathways to build and protect their wealth. “I help people decide what is most appropriate to their circumstances – from tax-effective investment strategies and SMSF, to ensuring their lifestyle is protected against illness or accident.”

Are you seeking advice on how you can thrive in your golden years? Put your mind at ease and prepare your post-retirement position today, by chatting to Simon at CCFPG about what you want most out of life.

Kristy Coulin

Financial Adviser

Former Client Service and Office Manager turned Financial Adviser, Kristy Coulin has accumulated a wealth of experience from her 14 years in the Financial Planning industry.

It’s this depth of experience that serves her well in her present role as Retirement Financial Adviser. “I’ve been supporting clients for years, walking them through things and taking care of all the paperwork.” It was a natural progression for her to assist in the financial guidance of clients more directly.

For Kristy, who is innately attentive to the needs of others, a big appeal is the benefit she can help bring to people’s lives. Kristy takes the time to really determine what people want to achieve, and what their starting position is. It might be helping them assess their eligibility for the pension, restructuring their super for better outcomes, or downsizing strategies.

She derives great satisfaction in making people content about what’s happening and involved in the process. “With many people, particularly pre-retirees and Centrelink aged care individuals, they just want someone to simplify their lives and take away the stress,” says Kristy. “I’m not interested in bamboozling people with the technicalities.”

As ever, trust is key. “You’re taking people’s life-savings into your hands. They need to feel you’re doing the right things. If you’re doing it with their best interests at heart, you can’t go wrong.”

Jason Brown

Financial Adviser

Personal experience in the importance of income protection influences Jason’s work at NFPG. Having spent 10 years working in the mining industry, a health scare made him realise just how easy it is for many to be suddenly faced with significant life difficulties from an unexpected loss of income.

Open and honest, Jason is drawn to people who share his values for authenticity and genuine connection. Now thriving in the field of financial advice, Jason has made it his calling to reach out to aspiring individuals earning significant money for the first time or working in the resources sector – particularly those with young families to care for.

“People need to understand that things can change overnight,” he says. “I want to make sure they’re protected, in case anything goes wrong with their health.”

For Jason, that means ensuring people are aware of the necessity of having adequate insurance to cover mortgage repayments and other ongoing responsibilities including bills. Beyond that, he develops strategies in wealth creation and superannuation to enable his clients to create their desired lifestyle now and in retirement.

“It’s really important that people are aware of the measures they can take now, to make sure they and their loved ones are looked after.”

Looking to protect your family or your growing wealth? Let Jason from CAG show you how, and be ready for whatever life might throw at you.

Anthony Campbell

Financial Adviser (SME and Risk Specialist)

Most weekends you will find Anthony trail running somewhere in the bush.

Not only has he completed 12 ultra-marathons in trail running – he embraces every opportunity to introduce people to the exhilarating sport.

“I thoroughly enjoy showing new people and friends around the trails. I enjoy that guiding role and it’s exactly what I enjoy about financial planning - guiding people and giving advice.”

The Small and Medium Enterprise Specialist has recently joined the NFPG team following 13 years in the Commonwealth Bank’s business banking sector where he worked with self-employed clients, and three years in his father’s financial planning business prior to that. Earlier in his career he also worked in the real estate industry.

His approach to working with Small and Medium Enterprises has always been to develop an in-depth understanding of a client’s business – by visiting them on site.

“In doing that, I get to see and understand what’s important to them and the business. Quite often their business is their passion, their baby,” Anthony said.

“Clients see their lawyers to handle their legal needs. They see their accountant to do their finances, their BAS and monitor their profit and loss. They’ll go and see their doctor to sort out their blood pressure problems because of all the stress they’re facing.

“I’m the only person who they talk to about the legal side, the financial side, the medical side, the personal side, their dreams and goals – I become embedded in their lives.”

Anthony says for many successful Small and Medium Enterprises, their success can come at a cost.

“To become that successful they are putting their entire energy into their business, so as a result, some areas may become unintentionally neglected. A perfect example is failing to set up a succession plan or have mechanisms in place should a key person leave the business.

“I can help them navigate their finances and their goals, allowing them to focus on what they do best - run their business.”

Having lived in Newcastle for more than 30 years, the father of two daughters aged 18 and 21, considers himself a proud Novocastrian.

He lives by a philosophy he learned from a former mentor, conducting himself in a way professionally that means there is no need to cross the road to avoid a client.

“That’s the way I treat any situation – am I able to back this up, am I able to live with it? People are trusting me and I need to be proud of my actions and advice.”

Rosie Copp

Financial Adviser and Accredited Aged Care Specialist

Numbers have always held a place in the heart of NFPG’s Rosie Copp. “I used to go with my Dad to the accountant every year,” she recalls. “And I learnt early how large a part they play over the course of our lives.”

With over 25 years’ experience in financial services and advisory roles here and in London, Rosie now brings that nuanced understanding of numbers to her role at NFPG.

Being both a mother and a daughter, Rosie understands the importance of getting started early as much as the importance of taking care of those who are unable to help themselves.

Rosie takes great joy in getting to know her clients (especially multiple generations of one family), understanding their goals and passions, then working collaboratively to implement appropriate strategies. Her intuition and empathy make her a superb Financial Adviser, something that her colleagues and clients attest to.

“To me, financial advice is a lifelong critical element of your success and security; laying the foundation in your early years, reaping the rewards as you age, then taking comfort that you will have access to the best care available when you can no longer live independently.”

Rosie is also Coastal Advice Group’s resident Aged Care specialist - attending to her mother’s physical and financial well-being during her transition into assisted living opened Rosie’s eyes to how much potential there was to make a lasting, positive impact for people through good advice informed by compassion and understanding.

Regardless of what stage of life you are in, you can rest assured that Rosie has the know-how, knowledge and experience to guide you towards your goals so that you can live your best life.

Lee Emery

Financial Adviser

British ex-pat and experienced Financial Adviser Lee Emery has happily called the Central Coast home for 17 years now.

Commencing his career in financial services in 1988, Lee has worked in Fund Management, Equities and Insurance (Claims). Wanting to combine his love of ‘number-crunching’ and working directly with clients, the transition to Financial Advice was a natural progression.

“Making the change from the Corporate Sector to working directly with clients was the best decision I made in my career. The relationships that I have built with my clients over the years are truly rewarding and one of the best elements of my job. I understand and respect the trust my clients are giving me to both protect and grow their life savings so that they can enjoy their retirement.”

Lee’s vast experience and knowledge, accumulated during his nearly 20 years as an Adviser, further strengthens the Retirement Planning team of Coastal Advice Group - he principally assists individuals and couples who are moving into the pre-retirement and retirement phases of life; providing specialist advice including Superannuation, Retirement Planning, Estate Planning and Centrelink entitlements.

The weekends allow Lee to pursue his hobbies: scuba diving, underwater photography, and art. “The joy I get from my own hobbies drives me to guide my clients towards their own happy retirement. Whether this be travelling, spending time with family or enjoying their own hobbies – I want them to have the financial means to do whatever brings them happiness – they have worked hard and deserve it.”

Are you seeking a trusted source to provide you with clarity amongst the confusion when it comes to planning your retirement? Take your first steps towards your ideal retirement lifestyle by talking with Lee.
