NFPG’s Senior Financial Adviser Janelle Kirk is clearly passionate about supporting people to realise their financial goals.

With more than 44 years in the finance industry, including over two decades in the banking sector – 11 spent with the CBA; and almost 20 years as a financial planner, Janelle has developed strong quality relationships based on trust.

While working within the banking industry Janelle identified the need for financial planning services, especially for the ageing population.

“As I moved with them through life I recognised there were a lot of pitfalls for those who couldn’t see what could be done to make the most of their retirement – what I usually call – ‘to retire smiling’.”

Wanting to embrace a holistic approach to supporting people with their financial future Janelle pursued further study to qualify as a Certified Financial Planner, and holds a Masters in Financial Planning and Graduate Certificate of Business Research.

A long-standing passion to help others realise their financial goals drives Matthew’s mission at NFPG. “Seeing clients start to achieve their financial independence inspires me,” he says. “It starts with listening, working to their agenda, not our own.”

Matthew’s easy-going personality is backed by significant experience, starting with corporate superannuation back in 2000. From there, Matt spent five years as pricing manager at one of Europe’s biggest hedge funds, and six years in super and insurance for some of Australia’s largest financial services providers.

The experience made Matthew aware of just how vulnerable a lot of people were when it came to their financial security. “I saw a lot of insurance claims where people hadn’t been given the right advice, and had cancelled their insurance,” he recalls. “It made me want to do more to help people build and protect their wealth.”

At the urging of long-time friend Daniel Brown, Matthew decided the time was right to leverage his broad experience and move into the financial planning space. NFPG was a natural fit. “We look at advice very differently to other outfits, and I think that’s one of our advantages,” says Matthew.

Most weekends you will find Anthony trail running somewhere in the bush.

The Small and Medium Enterprise Specialist has recently joined the NFPG team following 13 years in the Commonwealth Bank’s business banking sector where he worked with self-employed clients, and three years in his father’s financial planning business prior to that. Earlier in his career he also worked in the real estate industry.

His approach to working with Small and Medium Enterprises has always been to develop an in-depth understanding of a client’s business – by visiting them on site.

“In doing that, I get to see and understand what’s important to them and the business. Quite often their business is their passion, their baby,” Anthony said.

“Clients see their lawyers to handle their legal needs. They see their accountant to do their finances, their BAS and monitor their profit and loss. They’ll go and see their doctor to sort out their blood pressure problems because of all the stress they’re facing.

“I’m the only person who they talk to about the legal side, the financial side, the medical side, the personal side, their dreams and goals – I become embedded in their lives.”

Anthony says for many successful Small and Medium Enterprises, their success can come at a cost.

Lee Emery

British ex-pat and experienced Financial Adviser Lee Emery has happily called the Central Coast home for 17 years now.
